Prior to moving to the Island full time in 2004, Lang spent 30 years in the investment industry. The first 15 years with Merrill Lynch and the second 15 years with his own investment advisory firm, dealing with individuals, small corporations and pension plans. Lang's first contact with the Vineyard came in 1972 and he and his wife Pam have been coming every year since. Pam's family has been summer residents since the 1940's.
 
Both Lang and Pam are actively involved in a number of island charitable organizations. Lang is also a volunteer coach at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, coaching both Boys and Girls Varsity and JV Lacrosse.
 
Lang enjoys fishing, boating, gardening and walking the many miles of unspoiled beaches around the island.
